Police Wives Association campaign against corruption

Section of Police Wives Association, (POLWA) in a one day anti-corruption artistic activism campaign workshop in Accra have pledged to help fight corruption in the country.

The participants shared various views on corruption, and how in their own individual ways, they can help curb the menace.

They however disagree with the Centre for Democratic Development’s, (CCD-Ghana) 2019 Afro Barometer corruption perception index, which ranked the Police service as the most corrupt institution in the country.

The POLWA members believes the police institution has not been well equipped, and conditions of service are not good compared to other services, therefore does not deserve the most corrupt institution tag.

The campaign dubbed “Police Wives Say No to Corruption”, was facilitated by Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s Rebecca Ekpe.

Madam Rebecca in her speech, said, “for Ghana to tone down on corruption, it takes the responsibility of every single person to solve the corruption problem.” She further said, “if we sit down and do nothing about it, we will be worse off than the person who did it. So we all must be part of the change.”

Queen mother of Ave-Dakpa, Mamaga Sotsimede Adziwe II, who double as the National Magajia of POLWA (in-charge of Police Wives in Ghana), in her remarks, urged the general public to be truthful in their everyday life dealings and desist from giving bribes to avoid being dealt with the rightful authorities when they flout the law.
