The Ghana Psychological Association has advised the public to remain calm amidst the fear and panic associated with the rise in covid-19 cases being recorded in the country.
In a press release dated 25th March, 2020 and signed by the national Public Relations Officer, Dr. Richard Acquah-Coleman, the association highlights measures to follow in order to to minimize the negative psychological experiences as a result of the rising curve of confirmed covid-19 cases.
Measures outline in the press release include, putting in more effort to educate the public on the strict adherence to the practice of social distance, hand washing and exercising the body to keep strong and healthy.

The Ghana Psychological Association commends the government and the health sector for the efforts their putting in place to help prevent the spread of the virus and also urges the government to provide enough logistics such as PPEs and test kits to support hospitals and health centers across the country to demonstrate enough readiness to fight covid-19.
“Fear and panic could significantly reduce when people perceive that enough PPEs, test kits and health professionals have been deployed to provide healthcare at the various community clinics and health care centres across the country.” the statement said.
The general public is also advised to show social support, love and affection to the infected and affected even as the practice social distancing.
These measures when practiced will help minimize fear, panic, emotional exhaustion among other psychological experiences due to the rise in confirmed cases of covid-19 in Ghana.
