GT Bank supports Ho Technical University Basic School with refurbished ICT Centre

A leading financial institution, Guaranty Trust Bank has on Wednesday April 13, 2022 handed over a fully refurbished Computer Laboratory to the Ho Technical University Basic School in Ho as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility .

Through the initiative, an existing classroom has been refurbished and stocked with 62 desktop computers, projector, printer, 3 air-conditioners and an internet facility to enhance research.

The bank is also providing the services of ICT professional to support the ICT teacher of the school for a year to ensure the maintenance of the facility.

Addressing a gathering of stakeholders at the handing over ceremony, Divisional Head of Corporate Communication and Experience at GT Bank, Agnes Owusu-Afram reiterated the Bank’s commitment to support education with ICT which is relevant in every sphere of life.

“The entire world is connected through technology and we believe that by donating this facility, we are adequately helping to prepare our future leaders for what lies ahead of them. Every information they would need to succeed is now available at the click of the button”

Headmistress of the school, Ms. Beatrice Kpor expressed her delight over the Bank’s gesture and promised that the school shall do all it can to leverage on the facility to improve the ICT knowledge of pupils.

Vice-Chancellor of Ho Technical University, Professor Ben Honyenuga in his address lauded the Bank’s intervention to refurbish the facility after the University approached them based on a newspaper publication a staff drew his attention to.

A release from GT Bank states that “Ho Technical University Basic School becomes the eighth school in the country to benefit from GTBank’s drive to enhance teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technical a cross the country”

HTU Basic School was established in 1985 and currently boasts of a student population of over 800 and 26 teachers.

Wednesday’s occasion was also graced by the Ho Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Godwin Amelor, Togbe Anikpi III, Dufia of Ho-Heve, the Assembly Member for Borsontoe Electoral Area , Sefadzi Agama among others.
