By: Nutifafa Bequine

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on 28th July, 2022, revoked the appointment of embattled Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo as the minister for Gender, Children and Social protection ministry effective immediately.

The statement issued by the communication directorate at the Jubilee House and signed by Eugene Arhin reads “In accordance with article 81 (a) of the Constitution, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has revoked the appointment of Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, as Minister for Gender, Children and Social
Protection, with immediate effect.”

The statement further stated that, until a substantive Minister is appointed by President Akufo-Addo, the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah, will continue to act as caretaker Minister for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

The revocation came barely hours after Parliament raised delaying the fate of the Dome-Kwabenya MP, which has to do with absenting herself from Parliament for over fifteen sittings without permission from the Speaker.
