Referees Leadership Praises Gold Fields for Tarkwa Stadium Project

A seven-member delegation from the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) attended the commissioning of the Gold Fields-funded state-of-the-art TnA Stadium in Tarkwa.

The highlight of the commissioning was a match between Medeama SC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

The RAG team, led by National Chairman George Saijah, expressed gratitude to Gold Fields for the invitation and praised the facility as a potential hub for unearthing raw talent in the region.

They also seized the opportunity to appeal for corporate support for their own sporting village project in Atorman, near Kasoa in the Central Region of Ghana.

RAG’s ambitious project aims to develop 15 acres of land into a comprehensive sporting complex, complete with an astroturf, a tartan track, and an office complex. The association believes this facility will not only benefit referees but also stimulate local economies, create job opportunities, and serve the broader sporting community.

The commissioning of the TnA Stadium marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s football infrastructure development, and RAG’s involvement underscores their commitment to promoting the sport and its stakeholders.

The RAG leadership also visited the home of their fallen hero, the late T.R.K. Attifu, to pay tribute to his memory on the eve of his first anniversary.

The delegation included General Secretary Alex Atuahene Anning, FIFA Referee (Rtd) Naa Seidu Bomison, National Technical Instructor Seidu Dauda, Deputy National Technical Instructor Isaac Effah Tetteh, Deputy National Fitness Instructor Akrofi Amenya, and Deputy General Secretary Mr. Tetteh Obeyuo.

RAG is the welfare organsation for referees in Ghana.
In the match, Medeama SC emerged victorious with a score of two goals to one.
