The Ghana Athletics Association(GAA) has officially announced 8 athletes to represent the nation at the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
The squad comprised of Ghana’s top performing athletes, will compete across a range of track and field events (100m men, 200m men, 800m men, 4x100m Relay men, and High Jump women), aiming to bring home medals and national glory.

Leading the charge in the men’s events are Abdul-Rasheed Saminu and Benjamin Azamati, who will both compete in the highly anticipated 100m sprint. Ibrahim Fuseini will join them in the 200m, with Alex Amankwa set to compete in the 800m.

The relay quartet, featuring Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Benjamin Azamati, Ibrahim Fuseini, and Barnabas Aggerh, is competing for the men’s 4 x 100m relay and will be further strengthened by Joseph Paul Amoah and Mustapha Alufa Bokpin.
On the women’s side, Ghana will be represented by Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah in the high jump, an event where the nation hopes to make a significant impact.

The championships represent a crucial opportunity for Ghanaian athletes to showcase their talent on a global stage and build on the recent successes of the nation’s athletics program. With a mix of seasoned competitors and rising stars, Ghana is ready to compete and make its mark in Tokyo.

The World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan begins on September 13, 2025, and ends on September 21, 2025. The event is expected to bring together over 2,000 athletes from approximately 200 countries, competing in various track and field disciplines at the Japan National Stadium.
