All 12 Olympic boxers failed to qualify for Paris 2024.The qualification tournament which took place in Dakar ,Senegal from September 9 to 15,2023 was unsuccessful as no boxer made a final bid to Paris 2024.
The team was made up of five (5) females (Black Hitters ) and seven (7) males (Black Bombers)
Below are the list of boxers that traveled to Dakar :
Black Hitters(Female):
Janet Acquah – Flyweight (50kg)
Ramatu Quaye – Bantamweight (54kg)
Anatu Mohammed – Featherweight (57kg)
Sarah Apew – Lightweight (60kg)
Ornella Sathoud – Middleweight (75kg)
Black Bombers(Male):
Theophilus Allotey – Flyweight (51kg)
Abdul Wahid Omar – Featherweight (57kg)
Joseph Commey – Light Welterweight (63.5kg)
Alfred Kotey – Light Middleweight (71kg)
Seth Gyimah – Light Heavyweight (81kg)
Jonathan Tetteh – Heavyweight (92kg)
David Bawah Akankolin – Super Heavyweight (92kg+)
Ghana’s Olympic boxing team will however have another opportunity in the world qualifiers where they would have the chance to face boxers from Asia and Europe.
The qualification tournament is scheduled for February 29,2024 to March 12,2024 in Busto Arzizio, Italy (Europe) and 23rd May to 3rd June,2024 in Bangkok , Thailand (Asia).
