South African Premier league giants Mamelodi Sundowns beat Wydad Club of Morocco by 2-0 to be crowned champions of the maiden African Football League(AFL) on Sunday November 12,2023 at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium (Pretoria).
Sundowns came from a 2-1 first leg defeat to lift the trophy after a convincing 2-0 second leg win.
The Masandawana’s victory was made in front of 51 762 spectators with 3-2 aggregate becoming the maiden winners and defending champions of the championship.
The South African league side will addition to the history made be rewarded with a $4 million as winners of the championship.
