The Volta Regional Football Association at it’s congress on Thursday October 3, 2024 has introduced a new format for the 2024/2025 division two league.
The football governing body in the Volta Region disclosed the shift from the previous game centre format during the FA’s ordinary congress at the Ho Municipal Assembly Hall, Ho.
The chairman, Mr.Daniel Agbogah stated that the 2024/2025 season will be played in a home and away format in each zone.
The season’s league will also consist of ten (10) clubs in each zone with the number of relegated clubs depending on the total number of clubs in the zones.
The FA chairman on league format, added that the clubs will be responsible for their match venues hence has asked each club to declare their venues for the season.
The league will also allow the clubs to use juvenile players from the club’s junior side.
“The teams can use at least 10 juvenile players who are registered players of the junior team of the same club in the league.”
The 2023/2024 league season witnessed a very competitive play with over 60 clubs participating in the zonal stage where Inter Allies beat West African Football Academy (WAFA) 4-1 on penalties in the finals of the middle league play off at the Ho Sports stadium on Sunday June 30, 2024 and are currently playing in the 2024/2025 access bank division one league in zone 3.
The 2024/2025 league season is scheduled to kick off on Saturday November 9, 2024 with over 60 clubs expected to participate in the league to fight for the 2025/2026 division one league slot.
Mr. Agbogah added that the home teams are to provide at least five (5) uniformed security personnel on match days.
