Mr. Harrison Kofi Belley – Author, Politics and Governance in the Fourth Republic of Ghana

It captures Ghana’s political events prior to the 1992 constitution, the elections from 1992 , proposals from political parties, reforms by the electoral commission and series of agreements and disagreements within Ghana’s political atmosphere.

It also delves deep into the history of some political parties in Ghana and their performance over the years, Ghana’s gain in power alternation from one party to another and the liberalisation of the media landscape.

The author has also recounted landmark cases from the Supreme Court of Ghana over electoral disputes, appointments of chief executives of some state institutions, the work of some institutions like the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice and the functions of parliament to enact laws.

On some emerging trends, the book speaks about the difficulty in separating party activities and government business, vigilantism and the need for the state to resource its institutions to properly function.
