On Monday, June 23, 2025, the Volta Regional Minister, Hon James Gunu, accepted to lead the charge in completing the second phase of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Press Centre in the Volta Region.
This development follows a meeting with a delegation from the GJA Volta Chapter, led by Chairman Emmanuel Agbaxode. The delegation included Vice Chairman Kafui Gati, former Chairman Kafui Kanyi, and other members of the association.
During the meeting, Lambert Atsivor, an administrator of the GJA, explained the new design to the minister. The design, crafted by Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL), features a range of facilities, including a boardroom, conference centre, rest rooms, and auxiliary facilities.
The estimated cost for completing the project is around GH₵ 7 million. Minister Gunu expressed his enthusiasm for the project and pledged to champion a fundraising effort to mobilize resources from the private sector and other stakeholders.
Chairman Agbaxode also used the opportunity to thank the minister for the various forms of support he has given to the GJA as a member of the association. He expressed hope that the minister’s efforts would also help in completing the press centre’s phase two.
“We are committed to supporting initiatives that promote journalism and media development in the region,” Minister Gunu said. “We will work with the GJA Volta Chapter to ensure the successful completion of this project.”
