Network of Volta Youth Condemns Secessionist Violent Attacks

A youth group from the Volta Region of Ghana under the name “Volta Regional Network of Youth Groups” is calling on the youths of the region to reject attempts by self-seeking individuals to use them to destroy the peace of the region.
In a press release dated 29th September, 2020, regional vice president, Mawufemor Kofi Folivi, said the recent attacks at Mefe and Aveyime do not inure to the benefit of the youths and that, the youth must do all they can to avoid joining such militant groups. “we are calling on all youth groups in the Volta and Ghana at large to stand up and resist these people not with violence but refusing to use their energies in unprofitable attacks like this recent one before we all begin to seat on a round table one day to be negotiating the very peace we are already enjoying today.”
According to the network “what the youth of Volta want is quality education and skills development which are key fundamental for sustainable job creation and human development.”
The network is therefore “entreating the security agencies to employ high sense of professionalism in handling this case so that innocent and vulnerable citizens are not intimidated and implicated for crimes that they do not commit.”
