The embassy of Russia in Ghana released the list of sources of Ghana’s agricultural products for the year 2021 in a tweet.
The tweet is believed to be a rebuttal attempt to refute the claims by the government of Ghana that the Ghanaian economy is bad as a result of the Russian-Ukraine conflict.
The post read “Dear readers, here are some figures summed up by the embassy for you to think about 🤔🤔🤔”
The release enlisted 15 countries and the number one spot is China where $322,4 million was spent importing mainly fish, frozen and tinned food, and green tea among many others.
Meanwhile, Russia placed tenth on the list where $90,8 million has been spent in the year 2021 importing mostly wheat products.
Background
On 24 February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine in a major escalation of the Rossiu-Unkrainain war that began in 2014. The war caused Europe’s largest refugee crisis since the end of World War 2 (WW2) and is also believed to be responsible for the global food shortage in the past four months.
