National Communication Authority Dragged to Court

A detail of a writ of Sermon circulating on social media purportedly revealed that the National Communication Authority has been sued at the highest court of the land, following the blocking of unregistered SIM cards as punitive action against individuals who failed to re-register their SIM cards with Ghana Card.

The plaintiff, The People’s Project has triggered the original jurisdiction of the apex court in interpretation of article 2, 23 and 296 in regards to the directive of Minister of Communication and digitalization, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful to the first defendant, National Communication Authority to block unregistered sims after 30th September, 2022 whiles the institution, National Identification Authority which is responsible for issuing the sole Ghana Card is yet to issue the said card to many of the citizens.

Among other reliefs is to restrict the first defendant from carrying out the directive from the minister and also seeking an injunction until the substantial case is dispose.

The people’s project is a non partisan group and social movements that demand social goals and constitutional reforms in the interest of the Ghanaian people.
