[Politics] Ametefe Out Agbavitor In

Mawutor Agbavitor polled 203 out of the 581 votes cast, against incumbent Henry Ametefe’s 130 to become the newly elected Volta regional chairman of the National Democratic Congress, NDC in the party’s regional executive elections held at the G.M Afeti Auditorium, of the Ho Technical University (HTU), on 12 November, 2022.

The closest to the two in a 5 man contest for the championship was George Loh, with 181 votes and the rest contestants, Francis Doe, 62 votes and Marshall Emil Ackumey with a distant 5.

Vice chairmen elected by the delegates were, Egypt Kwabla Kudoto, 220 votes (1st Vice) and Divine Fiakpui Dzahini, 193 votes (2nd Vice). Others, John Tumaku, Bridget Simpi, and Manfred Nuki-Dei, had 79, 67 and 20 votes respectively.

The secretary position was retained by the incumbent James Gunu, with a landslide victory. He polled 456 votes against Albert Laurent Sakabutu’s 110, and Stanley Gladstone’s 14.

Ege Bright, with 327 votes was elected as deputy secretary, leaving Stephen Adom, 120, Stanley Nevis Glate, 116 and Emmanuel CK Todzoh, 18 votes.

For the regional Organizer position, Siki Abibu made it easy against his former deputy regional organizer, Chester Sena Ati.
Siki had 358 votes to Chester’s 222.

Elliott Wogbe emerged the victor among the four (4) contestants for the Deputy Organizer position with 238 votes, whiles Charles Folikuma had 166, Abraham Kwame Ahiable, 110 votes and Divine Akpa, 65 votes.

With 293 votes, Daniel Agboka Dzegede picked the Treasurer position, leaving the other 4 contesting to try another time.
Wonder Nditsi had 140 votes to place second. Also, Abdul Hakeem Balogun, Alfred Brown Kuma and Simmons Okudzeto had 104, 36, and 10 votes respectively.

Easy does it for Evelyn Gaglozu, as she retained her Deputy treasurer position with 381 votes against her solitary contender, Elizabeth Edem Tsekpodoe who polled 200 votes.

Kafui Agbleze won with the biggest margin on the day by polling 522 votes against Kweku Amedume’s 59 votes to retain the Communication officer position.

Deputy Communication officer went to Bright Delali Kugbadzor with 365 votes against 183, and 32 votes respectively for Sampson Tagbor and Scorpion Research.

Hajia Hawa polled 264 votes to win Zongo Caucus position. Iddrisu had 132 votes, while Alhaji Bello also had 134.

The newly elected chairman, Mr Mawutor Agbavitor, said in his victory speech, “I take the opportunity to congratulate everyone that has contested the election, but was not elected. I want to tell you that it’s the NDC that has won the election. We are one family, we belong to one family, we are the children of JJ Rawlings, we believe in principles of revolution. So we are one and we remain one forever and forever.”

He further congratulated the other elected executives, and also said, “we are coming to work together and I believe you will love working with us. This is one of the soundest team NDC in the Volta region has produced. And I promised here, that in 2024, victory will be delivered. And I’m assuring you, no force, no spirit, nobody can stop the victory of the NDC.”
