COVID-19: President Akufo-Addo extends restrictions on public gatherings

The Ministry of Information in Ghana has announced that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended the restrictions imposed on public gatherings for a further period of two (2) weeks, with effect from 13th April, 2020.

In addition to this, the restrictions imposed on movement of persons in Accra, Tema, Kumasi and Kasoa have also been extended for a further period of one (1) week with effect from 13th April, 2020.

The various restrictions imposed are as a result of the high confirmed cases of the COVID-19 in Ghana.

Number of cases confirmed in Ghana

As of Sunday, 12th April, 2020, Ghana has recorded 566 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 8 deaths, disclosed by the Ghana Health Service.

Globally, since 31st December, 2019 and as of 12th April, 2020, 1,838,300 cases of COVID-19 have been reported including 113,329 deaths, according to the World Health Organization’s statistics.
