Ministry to start fumigation of Schools in Ghana

The Ministry of Education in Ghana has contracted Zoomlion Ghana Limited to carry out fumigation of all schools in the country with effect from Tuesday 14th April, 2020.

In a letter released on 9th April, 2020 and signed by the Director-General of Ghana Education Service, Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, all Regional Directors of Education are requested to inform and direct all Heads of Schools in their respective regions to open schools to the Zoomlion Ghana Limited to carry out the exercise.

The exercise is to curb the spread of COVID-19 which has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization in the country. Ghana has put in measures such as social distancing, self isolation and the practice of personal hygiene to curb the spread.

So far, Ghana has recorded 566 confirmed cases and 8 deaths as of Sunday, 12th April, 2020.

Heads of schools are tasked to closely monitor the exercise and verify satisfactory work at the end of the exercise.
