20-year old Eyram Botwe who sprayed pepper powder into the eyes of a motor rider in an attempt to rob him of his Haojue motorbike at Agorve has been sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment in hard labour.
The accused who was put before the Sogakope Circuit court on 25 January 2022 on the charge of attempt to commit robbery pleaded guilty to the offence and was convicted on his own plea.
H/L Isaac Addo delivering his judgment considered the fact that the accused was a first-time offender hence his fifteen years incarceration.
Two other suspects arrested in connection with the robbery of a motorbike at Kpevi near Akatsi have also been remanded into Police custody by the same court when they appeared before it.
The duo was put before the court on 27 January 2022, where they pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy and robbery.
The two suspects will reappear before the court on 10 February 2022.
The robbery of motorbikes mostly Okada, is becoming quite rampant in recent times and the command is convinced that recent arrest by the Akasti District and subsequent sentencing would stem the tide.
