Celebrating 25th anniversary, the 2000-year group have breathed new life into the historic‘White Block’building to coincide with the school’s 75th anniversary.
Mawuli School, with the name Mawuli which translates in the Ewe language as“God Lives”is one of the first senior high schools in the Volta region of Ghana, specifically in Ho. Throughout the years, Mawuli School has shaped leaders and professionals who have made remarkable contributions in health, education, sports, and governance, and their contributions continue to reinforce the school’s legacy as a cradle of excellence and character formation.
In honor of the 25th anniversary, the 2000-year group has renovated the iconic ‘White Block’.
A building that has witnessed the passing of many students from its inception till date. However, the once accommodative, spirit field block has not been in its best shape for some time. The structure suffered deterioration at the mercies of the weather and age which include leaking roof, faded paints and damage furniture among others.
In the spirit of preservation of heritage, improvement upon learning conditions and inspiring the future generations to cultivate the spirit of giving back to society, the year 2000 group of the school renovated the old “White Block” after months of dedication, resource mobilization, and construction.
In a press statement signed by A.B. Kafui Kanyi the groups Media and Publicity committee chair, it said the project, estimated at GHC300,000, was executed in three phases, covering complete
structural repair, roofing and painting, replacement of classroom furniture, and modernization of
interior facilities to meet current educational standards.
The legacy project is ready and will officially be handed over to the school on Sunday, 26th October 2025, at the Forecourt of the building on the Mawuli School premises.
The handing over ceremony is expected to be witnessed by parents, students, teachers, donor sponsors and the community at large.
Also, as part of the 25th Anniversary celebration, the year group has extended compassion beyond the school with a plan donation to the Ho Central Female Prison.
As part of visit, the group will spend some time with the inmates to interact with them and inspire them, followed by a convoy participation in the Old Mawuli Students Union’s (OMSU) 75th anniversary float, a 90s-themed social night. The visit and donation aim to extend compassion and hope to the female inmates while emphasizing the importance of community support and reintegration.
